Melissa Giacomara, Vice President (President-Elect)
Melissa obtained her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2012. During law school, she clerked at the Cook County Public Defender’s Office; that experience exposed her to some of the harsh realities that exist in the criminal justice system, and led her to realize she wanted a career in the field of criminal defense.
She is now an Assistant Public Defender currently assigned to the Felony Trial Division at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse. She serves on the board of the Puerto Rican Bar Association, and is a member of the Hispanic Lawyer’s Association of Illinois and the Hispanic National Bar Association.
