Edwin Reyes, Board MemberEdwin Reyes received his undergraduate degree from Loyola University, Chicago, Illinois and his law degree from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He then worked for the City of Chicago’s Law Department in the Traffic Division for a year, as a prosecutor where he tried bench trials on a daily basis. Edwin then transferred to the Workers’ Compensation Department in the Torts Division, where he defended the City of Chicago as Respondent in workers’ compensation claims filed by city workers. For the past nineteen years, Edwin has represented injured workers against their employers as Petitioner, before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, (IWCC). He has tried many cases before the IWCC as a Respondent and Petitioner.
Edwin also has handled personal injury cases. He was a Hearing Officer for the Chicago Board of Elections. Edwin has received many awards for his community service involvement, from ASPIRA, the Puerto Rican Bar Association, (PRBA) the Latin Bar Association, (LABA) (now known as the Hispanic Lawyers of Illinois) and; most recently the Vanguard Award from the Chicago Bar Association. Edwin is a board member of the Puerto Rican Bar Association, (PRBA) the Hispanic Lawyers of Illinois, (HLAI) The Hispanic National Bar Association, (HNBA) (Board of Governors), the Illinois State Bar Association,(ISBA) Chicago Bar Association,(CBA) Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association,(WCLA) Illinois Trial Lawyers Association,(ITLA) and previously served on the Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation of Illinois, (LLCF). Edwin is known affectionately as: “The Rainmaker.” |
