Melissa Quinones, Board MemberMelisa was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in June of 1982. She attended school at Colegio Puertorriqueño de Niñas, She has a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a Major in Public Relations and a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico and has been admitted to practice law in PR since February of 2009.
After working in the Litigation Departments of various big firms in Puerto Rico, Melisa joined a local franchise of Subway Restaurants as their In-House Counsel, where she oversaw the company's legal department and closely worked with upper management. During that time, she opened her own private practice specializing in civil litigation. On September 29, 2017, Melisa moved with her sister to Bolingbrook, Illinois, after Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico and her family was displaced. Shortly thereafter, she was admitted to practice law in Illinois and began working for Giamanco Law Partners in Bolingbrook, IL, where she is a Partner, specializing in Family Law and Labor and Employment. She is a certified mediator and a Guardian ad Litem (GAL). She is a member of the Board of Directors of Crime Stoppers in Bolingbrook and a volunteer attorney for Prairie Legal Services, who serve self-represented litigants who cannot afford an attorney. She serves on the Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Illinois and is a member of the Will County Bar Association, Guardian ad Litem Committee, among other professional organizations. |
